This process should continue

Auctions remain the prime determinant of fresh fish prices adopting open and transparent methodologies in pursuit of optimum prices, market stability and sustainability.

There are a number of challenges facing our sector at this time and accordingly a review of forward objectives, policies and emerging strategies is underway. It is important that as wide a representation of the 'sales' sector participate and contribute to this process.

However there are costs associated with a proactive programme

- monetary  - management - mutuality -

Adopting a passive approach may incrementally see the demise of the open and transparent auction market
